🔐 You Stay Logged In Until You Log Out
Logging in plants a stay-logged-in token in this browser that lasts about a
year and renews itself on every visit — closing the browser doesn't end
it, and your next visit to this page logs you in silently.
⚠ On a shared computer, use Logout when you're done — that
removes the token from that browser (though your username stays prefilled
here as a convenience). Already left a login behind somewhere?

📧 The Emailed Login Code On A New Browser
If this browser isn't recognized, the login is held while a 6-digit login code
is emailed to the address on the account. The login code lasts 15 minutes and
allows six wrong entries before you have to start the login over — a resend is
available, but it's limited too. Google logins go through the same check.
Entering the code marks this browser trusted indefinitely — you won't be
asked again here until you clear cookies or remove the device on
Account & Security, which is also where
two-step verification can be turned off.
🚫 Wrong Passwords Lock The Account
After several misses the error starts counting down exactly how many
tries remain. Run it out and the account locks for about 15 minutes —
while it's locked, even the correct password is refused, and the silent
auto-login is refused with it.
Locked out? Email a Reset Link on Forgot
Login sends a single-use link, and choosing a new password with it clears
the lock (the same page recovers a forgotten username too, by email) — and
Continue with Google is deliberately unaffected by a password lockout.
🔗 What Continue with Google Actually Does
The first Google login whose Google email matches the email on an existing
account links Google to that account (you'll get a courtesy email). From
then on either method works — your username and password are untouched.
No matching account? You're taken into Join with your name and email already
filled in — every account still gets its own password. Google can be
disconnected later on Account
& Security.
